Izabella Łaba, University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada

Dr. Łaba received her Ph.D. from the University of Toronto in 1994 and held faculty positions at UCLA and Princeton University before joining UBC in 2000. Her research spans harmonic analysis, geometric measure theory, additive combinatorics, and partial differential equations, with influential contributions to Kakeya sets, Falconer-type distance problems, tilings, and arithmetic structures. A Fellow of the American Mathematical Society, she has received the Canadian Mathematical Society's Coxeter–James and Krieger–Nelson Prizes and was an invited sectional speaker at the 2014 International Congress of Mathematicians.
